Why?
This podcast exists to make the world beautiful and meaningful. Our civilization has become ugly and meaningless. We’re here to help you understand why, and what you can do to start reclaiming beauty and meaning in it.
As Christians, we have access to the source of all goodness, truth, and beauty. As Architects, we have the language, knowledge, and experience to help build that beauty into the world around us. Simply put, we’re making architecture great again; and by extension, together we can all make the world a little more meaningful.
Join us three knuckleheads as we figure out how to make the world beautiful and fill it with meaning again.
Meet the team
Mikie Smit
Mikie is a jack of all trades, master of some. He is an Architect by day, farmer by morning/night, builder as often as possible, and computer programmer when necessary. Mikie is married, a father of 3, living that farm life in the last small town within 30 miles of Chicago. Jesus is King.
Ned Wright
Ned has been dubbed “the professor” by Mikie and John because he is an encyclopedia of architectural knowledge. As a church architect, Ned wrestles with the divine, literally building meaning into the world every day. Ned is married, a father of 4, living in Ogden, Utah. Christ is King.
John D’Ortenzio
John is an architect who got his start in the jewelry industry. For him, beautiful buildings and beautiful jewelry are not so different. As the resident Catholic, John serves as Grand Inquisitor on our bonus episodes. He relishes the title. John is married, a new father of 1 son, living in the suburbs of Chicago. Christus Rex.
